Italian heavy metallers Scala Mercalli have released a new video for “Tolentino 1815”, taken from their new album “Independence”, released on January 25th 2019, on Alpha Omega Records. Watch the video here:
“We are very attached to this battle, also because it was fought on the land of our region, in places we have visited many times. Shooting the video on the same field where the two armies then clashed was very moving. A song to remember the deeds of our ancestors who tried to free our country, giving their own lives.”
The occasion is the anniversary of the battle that took place in Tolentino, in Marche region (Italy) on 2nd and 3rd May 1815. This one is considered the first battle for the Independence of Italy, it was fought by the army of the King of Naples Gioacchino Murat, who tried to drive out the Austrians who occupied central and northern Italy.
“Indipendence” album is about the first part of Italian Risorgimento, from Naple’s Reign ruled by King Murat until Mazzini’s Roman Republic, including episodes on Mille (The Expedition of the Thousand) and Brigandage, with some of their main characters. The band will wear the new uniform inspired by the units, from north to south, that in the above-mentioned period fought side by side with the people and contributed with hard sacrifices to build Italian nation.
The band about “Independence”: “This project is about some events we consider of great importance in our country’s history, because they remind us of how important it has been, for a people dominated for years by foreign powers, to fight for ideals of unity and freedom, and reminds also that freedom, in every form, is never a gift but has always to be conquered fighting togheter. Yesterday as today!”
This example applies to every people or nation that wants to be truly free!
