Chicago metal icons Trouble, who formed in 1979, return to the metal playing field with The Distortion Field (FRW Music) after a bit of an absence. It’s the revered band’s first album of new material since 2007’s Simple Mind Condition and both the internal and external landscapes have changed. Armed with a brand new singer in the form of Kyle Thomas, whose metal pedigree includes respected acts like Exhorder and Floodgate, and a metal scene that is besieged by trendy, “here today, gone tomorrow” bands, Trouble remind headbangers why they’re still in the game and how they’re as relevant as ever with The Distortion Field. They are not defined by a single subgenre or category. Instead, they’ve crafted catchy, groove-laden metal songs that camp out in your cranium.
(Revelation 6:8) Behold a pale horse. His rider’s name was Death. And Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth to kill with sword, with famine, with pestilence, and with the beasts of the earth.
Cokegoat was founded in Chicago during the summer of 2011. A tight knit group of six members feature three riff pregnant guitars that present a strong and progressive idea of what heavy music is. Combined with three very different voices, including a strong female presence, textural synths, dark bong rattling bass lines and adrenalized drums all define Cokegoat. With equal parts heavy, progressive, and beer, 2013 saw the release of the debut album “Vessel.” Invisible Oranges stated, “there is plenty to bang your head to, but the extra elements add texture and give the band an edge.” Open minds allow Cokegoat to push the boundaries of what is considered massive music as they re-enter the studio in early 2015.
Blending a unique style of, Psychedelic Rock, Doom, Ambient, and Shoegaze. Noted as one of the loudest bands in Chicago…
