Insomnium

InsomniumInsomnium is a melodic death metal band from Joensuu, Finland, whose music also reveals links to other, neighboring metallic subgenres like doom, melancholy, and dark metal. Originally formed in 1997, the group released a pair of demos in 1999 and 2000 before signing a contract with England’s Candlelight Records and making their full-length debut with 2002’s In the Halls of Awaiting CD. Three additional albums — Since the Day It All Came Down, Above the Weeping World, and Across the Dark — have since followed, in 2004, 2006, and 2009, respectively, which not only confirmed Insomnium’s enduring passion for their chosen musical style, but also their stable lineup consisting of Niilo Sevänen (bass/vocals), Ville Friman (guitar), Ville Vänni (guitar), and Markus Hirvonen (drums). In 2011, they switched their record label to Century Media, releasing three further albums by 2016: One for Sorrow, Shadows of the Dying Sun, and Winter’s Gate. (Source)

Oceans of Slumber

Hailed as “one of the most exciting bands in the prog metal scene today” (ItDjents), Oceans of Slumber’s third full-length album, “The Banished Heart”, has been rousing critics since it’s release earlier this month via Century Media Records garnering several high-rated reviews, including a 9/10 from Metal Injection who praised it’s “deep, steady, smoky vocals and thick thoughtful riffs” depicting it as “an album burgeoning on timeless greatness”.

Terranaut

Home Town = Chicago, IL
An ode to the misanthropic and nihilistic traditions established by late 90s Black Metal, Terranaut inverts these inspired sounds to a disarray of fast-picking melodic rhythm and lead guitar, unorthodox percussion arrangements to intrigue the listener, selective bass lines and raw traditional Black Metal-style harsh vocals to complete their style of American Black Metal. The instrumentation carries Pagan and Native lyrical substance that narrates the original people of the Western Hemisphere, the beauty of nature, and adds historical pieces to evoke a sense of thoughtfulness and emotion. The Aperture Schematic

The Aperture Schematic is a progressive metal band utilizing ideas from many other genres to allow for a large, sound-scape style of music.

Started in the summer of 2012 by just jamming in the basement, these “jams” gave way for a studio endeavor. Going through many different concept and style ideas, T.A.S. follows the rule of there are no rules: composing and performing whatever feels right and looking at the big picture. Everything from theater, and classical, to progressive rock, to fusion, and death metal.

Their influences include Dream Theater, Opeth, Devin Townsend, Trivium, Septicflesh, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Pink Floyd, Sylosis, Strapping Young Lad, Behemoth, and more to be posted! (Source)
