Greg Leo is a Marketing Consultant and Salesperson for Rebel Radio. Having been a top radio salesman at Z-Rock in the 1980s, Greg is very familiar with the metal and hard rock scene. He jumped on board with Rebel in 2018, and has been working with clients all throughout Lake County, McHenry County, and Kenosha County, such as:
Steve C. started off at Rebel Radio as an intern. In time, he would fill in for Scott Davidson during mid-afternoons. After graduating Illinois school of broadcasting, he stuck with Rebel Radio to become a regular DJ.
You can catch Steve C. every Wednesday & Friday night from 7:00 pm – Midnight.
Kevin is a lifelong Metalhead, and has been active in the Chicago music scene since the early 1990s.
He’s played the drums for several local, Chicago bands, including:
The Joynt Chiefz
His job as a DJ at a Chicago-area gentlemen’s club led him into wanting to try other types of DJ’ing; specifically radio. After several conversations with Scott Davidson about it, he decided to give Kevin a shot on the air.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunity, and am having a great time, on Mondays! So by all means, tune in!”
You can listen to Kevin Smith every Monday evening from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM (U.S. Central Time).
Steve “Megamo” McCarthy
DJ, Sales, Show Promoter
Steve “Megamo” McCarthy jumped on board with Rebel Radio in 2018. He is a life-long metal fan, and a longtime metal show promoter.
“Metal is my way of life and happiness,” Steve says. “I heard Black Sabbath for the first time at the age of 13 or 14, and once their riffs hit my ears, there was no looking back — I had to hear more and more metal! Since then, I’ve been exploring all genres of metal, with my favorite being classic traditional and thrash, with Megadeth being amongst my most favorite bands.”
Catch Megamo McCarthy on Rebel Radio every Tuesday & Thursday from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
Host of the Punk Show, Sales
Leanne Murray hosts the Rebel Radio punk show, every Sunday night at 7:00 pm.

Host of “Morning Metal Wake-Up”, DJ, Sales
John Griffith joined Rebel radio in 1996, where he helped in sales, recorded promos for airplay, and learned the ins and outs of radio, (or at least the way things are done at Rebel Radio). You may also know John for his nickname, “Batman”, which he acquired as a child after meeting Adam West and Burt Ward.
Growing up in a house where music was either being played on the stereo, or live in the living room. But after seeing Judas Priest live at the age of 14, John soon found himself “stuck” in the eighties metal scene. “It made for a life of loving music for me,” John reflects.
Griffith studied Automotive Technology at Lincoln Technical Institute, and when he’s not hosting the Morning Metal Wakeup show or finding sales for Rebel Radio, you may hear John cranking out Rebel Radio in his tow truck, which he drives for both Hawks Towing and Cherry’s Towing. “It took a lot of years for me to find (a towing) company where I can enjoy working at and feel appreciated.” And in the words of Scott Davidson, “If there’s anything John knows better than anybody, it’s towing. He’s great at towing.”
Griffith has a long history with working with bands (roadie, setup, singer, etc.). Such bands he’s worked with include:
Breaker (Accept Tribute)
Judas Rising (Judas Priest Tribute)
Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath/Ozzy/Dio/Rainbow Tribute)
Chris Hambone Cameron (keyboardist for Sonia Dada and Liquid Soul)
Eddie for Iron Maidens
Another gift that John has been granted is the ability to share his excitement about Rebel Radio to complete strangers. No doubt the rise in numbers of people who’ve installed the TuneIn App onto their phones and favorited Rebel Radio is due to his contagious passion for the world to know and love Rebel Radio as he does.
If you would like to speak with John Griffith about advertising your company or band (or if you need a tow), call John at (708) 674-6150.
“In the words of the D-Man, ‘Rebel on!’ Thanks for listening!” -John R. Griffith
Digital Media Manager, Web and Graphics, Audio, DJ
Andy Gehron began working for Rebel Radio in August, 1996.
Andy has been in radio for literally all of his life, hanging out at WLS as a child (he was that little kid who Steve Dahl used to chase out of the studio), meeting bands like Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Cheap Trick, KISS, and some others backstage and at the station, going on promos, and riding around in the “Magic Bus”.
“Being a part of Rebel Radio always reminded me of those days, back when working in radio was fun, the listeners were loyal, and before the corporations made everything automated and cookie-cutter, ya know?”
When he began DJ’ing at Rebel Radio, we were on AM 1330 and 103.1 WVVX. Rebel soon jumped around onto other stations, also, like 105.5 the Kat, 94.3 WJKL (which K-Love soon bought), a station up in Green Bay, WI via Satcom C-5, 1240 AM, and the later added, 1430 AM, WEEF, where Andy hosted a Christian metal show for an hour every Friday in 2004-5.
In 2005, Andy graduated seminary and moved to another state to pursue a full-time position in Youth Ministry. In 2011, he, his wife, and their Beagle returned to Illinois. In 2017, when Rebel Radio had begun broadcasting on 102.3 FM out of Naperville, Scott contacted Andy, asking him to return with Rebel Radio. He soon took on the much-needed responsibility of editing the cusses out of songs, setting up the station’s social media accounts, completely redoing the website, and occasionally filling in for Scott on-air.
Since then, Andy has taken on several other tasks and filled other needed positions with Rebel Radio, including: daily management of the website, graphic design, posting metal news and events onto the calendar, finding and posting videos, adding pages, posts, designing and posting banner ads, building the YouTube channel, digital branding, the station’s overall digital presence, SEO, Analytics, optimizing the website, link building, regularly researching bands, finding new songs to add to the playlist, communicating with bands and labels, marketing strategies, creating an intern program and managing interns, communicating with affiliates, ad placement, encouraging our sales team, writing and editing copy, resizing and editing photos, admin duties, and investing in a large supply of T-shirts to help promote the station and build revenue (just to name a few).
If you’d like to learn more about Andy Gehron, his faith, or for topics to bring up when you see him at shows, etc., check out his personal website.
