Concert Review: Power Trip’s Night of Absolute Chaos at the Metro!

There are concerts that energize, concerts that impress—and then there are Power Trip shows that annihilate everything in their path. On this particular night, the band delivered a 10 out of 10 performance, proving once again why they remain one of the most electrifying forces in modern thrash. From the opening riffs of “Soul Sacrifice”, I felt really lucky to part of the sold-out Metro show.

Setlist Carnage & Crowd Madness

Power Trip wasted no time obliterating the venue with back-to-back assaults of riffs and sheer aggression:

  • “Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)” ignited the crowd into a frenzy—the chant-along chorus roaring through the venue.
  • “Firing Squad” brought a relentless, grinding riff assault that had the pit in full riot mode.
  • “Hornet’s Nest” proved that Power Trip’s ability to balance groove and brutality is unmatched.
  • “Nightmare Logic”—pure devastation. This was the moment where bodies flew, fists raised, and chaos took over.

Stage Presence & Energy

New frontman Seth Gilmore was awesome.  The band acknowledged Riley Gale multiple times throughout the set, with the crowd chanting ‘Riley’ numerous times.  Seth Gilmore, of Fugitive, commanded the stage with the intensity of a battle-hardened general. His raw vocals tore through each song like a shockwave, perfectly backed by Blake Ibanez’s precision shredding and Chris Ulsh’s relentless drumming. The band locked into a punishing rhythm, delivering a show that felt not just performed, but experienced.

Final Act & Unforgettable Moments

As the set reached its peak, “Waiting Around to Die” and “Manifest Decimation” served as the final call to arms—the pit surging with reckless abandon. Then, “Crossbreaker” hit like a final knockout punch, leaving the crowd exhausted, drenched in sweat, and utterly fulfilled.

Final Verdict

Power Trip didn’t just perform—they destroyed. This was a show of pure thrash perfection, where every riff, every breakdown, and every scream meant something more. If there was ever proof that this band belongs at the top of the modern metal pantheon, this was it.
