Joe Perry
Joe Perry has canceled his upcoming solo tour. This occurred just after he was released from a New York hospital. He’s decided to take some time to rest and recover. In a public statement, Perry apologized to the fans hoping to see him in the early part of December. However, Perry is still planing on being part of the Aerosmith residency at the MGM Grand Park in Las Vegas. This is going to be a special show, which the band is hoping to give fans as a one-of-a-kind experience. The video, sound, and lighting production is being touted as one of the most expensive productions ever!
Aerosmith’s residency at the MGM is starting April 6th.
Glenn Danzig
Glenn Danzig is a busy guy! Not only is he currently touring with the Misfits and producing a movie based on a comic book that he writes, but he is also releasing a cover album. And not just any covers! He’s going to be covering — are you ready for this? Elvis Presley! Danzig is planning to release his Elvis Presley cover album later in 2019.
Most recently, Danzig put out volume two of Hidden Lyrics of the Left Hand, a book of Danzig song lyrics represented visually. I wonder how he would visually represent a song like Blue Suede Shoes?
And finally, an epic reunion announcement:
Can you Guess? Are you ready? This is bigger than a dwarf crushing Stonehenge.
That’s right, it’s the 35th anniversary of This Is Spinal Tap. The metal gods of faux and film will perform at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The live performance will take place after a screening of the legendary Mocumentry, “This Is Spinal Tap”. Rob Reiner will be joining the mock band for a Q&A following the show.
The movie didn’t catch on in 1984, when it was first released in theaters. It did, however, became a cult classic over time, and many people actually thought Spinal Tap was a real band! This included Ozzy Osbourne, who was confused when he first saw it, thinking it was a real documentary. This confusion prompted producers to add a disclaimer later to the video cassette release.
